Dr. Emily Choi is a soloist and a collaborative pianist who has performed actively in the United States and Asia, including a solo recital at the YAMAHA Artist Service Center in Taipei as a guest artist and, is a well-known piano instructor.
Dr. Choi earned her doctoral degree in piano performance with a full scholarship from the University of Miami, where she also earned her master’s degree in media writing and production. She received her bachelor’s degree in contemporary writing from Berklee College of Music as a recipient of the BEST Scholarship. Along with her performances, Dr. Choi composes and arranges contemporary music. Her work includes many solo arrangements for classical pianists.
Dr. Choi was previously served on the faculty at SookMyung Women’s University, BakSuk University, Pusan University, and several other universities in South Korea. She was also a lecturer and a member of the board of directors at the Korean Institute of Piano Pedagogy, which is the most prestigious pedagogical institution of the piano in South Korea. In the United States, she taught as a part-time professor in local universities and was invited to be a guest lecturer at Sam Houston State University in Texas.
She is currently writing a book of her arrangements while she teaches as a lecturer of music at various universities. Recently, in addition to her doctoral degree, Dr. Choi earned her master of divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, and she serves as worship director at Korean Community Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in Duluth, GA.
