[Bassoon] Stephanie Henke

Dr. Stephanie Henke (bassoon)

Stephanie Henke is a freelance oboist and private teacher residing near Atlanta, GA. She holds the Doctor of Musical Arts (with a minor in bassoon) and Master of Music degrees from the University of Georgia, where she studied oboe with Dr. Dwight Manning and Dr. Reid Messich and bassoon with Dr. Amy Pollard and Dr. William Davis. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio, where she studied with Ms. Elizabeth Camus of the Cleveland Orchestra. She has performed with Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Gainesville Symphony, the Rome Symphony, the Ocmulgee Symphony, the GAMAC Chamber Orchestra, the Southern Wind Quintet, and the Georgia Double Reed Ensemble (at the 2008 IDRS Conference in Provo, Utah), among others.

In addition to performing, Dr. Henke enjoys teaching a thriving private studio of oboe and bassoon students. She is in high demand as an educator and clinician in the metropolitan Atlanta area with experience working with diverse student musicians of all ages and backgrounds in private, small group, and classroom settings alike. In addition to her interests in double reed performance and pedagogy, she has a particular research interest in the oboe literature of the French Baroque. Her husband teaches middle school orchestra for the Gwinnett County Public Schools.
