About us

Where it all started.

After graduating from the internationally renowned Peabody Conservatory of Music – Johns Hopkins University with a degree in piano performance, Mrs. Kim returned to Atlanta and brought her dreams of performance and music education to life. In 1982 she founded the first location of the Atlanta Music Academy in Doraville. After exceptional growth, she moved her school to Suwanee, followed by the opening of a second location in Sugar Hill.

Student Achievements

Our students at Atlanta Music Academy have been able to achieve years of success through our programs. Past students have been able to accept a full ride scholarship into prestigious music schools like Julliard School of Music while current students have set records for All-State by making first chair for 6 consecutive years.

Across the wide spectrum of instruments, the majority of AMA students get into prestigious youth orchestras, like the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, Metro Youth Symphony Orchestra, AWYS. Our students excel in competitions such as the GMTA and the individual competitions recommended by their teachers.
