Andre Araujo de Souza

Violin and Viola

Andre started playing the violin when he was eight years old, learning from one of the main Suzuki teachers in Brazil Jose Ademar Rocha. Later, he joined the Universidade Federal da Paraiba (Federal University of Paraiba), where he received his bachelor’s diploma under the tutelar of Prof. Yerko Pinto Tabilo. Andre participated in major music festivals in Brazil and in Germany and was awarded from some of the main competitions in Brazil, receiving both solo and chamber music prizes. He also had the experience of being concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfonica da Paraiba Jovem (Youth Symphonic Orchester of Paraiba) for many years and later was spalla of the Orquestra Sinfonica da Paraiba (Symphonic Orchestra of Paraiba) and taught violin at the Antenor Navarro Music School.

Andre continued his music journey in USA, being a student of several institutions such as Utah State, Duqesne University (Pittsburgh), Penn State, Park University (Kansas City), Indiana University and now University of Georgia, being a doctorate student under Professor Levon Ambartsumian.

Mr. Araujo de Souza has a wife, a baby girl and is expecting another little one to join the family, who are his world.
