Bonnie Bo-Kyung Kim

Flute

Native of Seoul, Korea, Bonnie Bo-Kyung Kim started her music studies with piano. After moving with her family to Tokyo, Japan, she began her flute studies. When she returned to Seoul, she graduated from Seoul Arts High School. Ms. Kim continued her study in Paris and New York earning her Master degree and Professional studies degree from the Manhattan School of Music. As a student, Ms. Kim won numerous prizes, including the Bellin, Nerini, l’UFAM, and the Young Artist Competition in France.

Ms. Kim has performed often in France, New York and in Seoul, including solo and chamber performances in Carnegie Weil Recital Hall and Alice Tully Hall.

Much of Ms. Kim’s music career has been devoted to teaching young flutists. Previously, she was a member of the faculty of Manhattan School of Music, Preparatory Division. During that time Ms. Kim guided numerous students into America’s most prestigious music conservatories, including The Julliard School, Curtis Institute, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin, and Mannes Conservatory.

Her students won many prestigious competitions including NFA.

After moving to Virginia, Ms. Kim has continued her teaching career as well as her performing career. She has served as a director of International Flute Institute of New York Summer Music Festival and adjunct faculty at Christopher Newport University and Old Dominion University.

Ms. Kim recently moved to Georgia and is very excited to join Atlanta Music Academy.
