Ian Smith is an accomplished violist in orchestral and chamber music from Fayetteville, Georgia. Since starting viola at the age of 10, his love for the instrument has grown immensely.
Ian received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Viola Performance from Georgia State
University in 2018 and 2020 respectively, studying with Tania Maxwell Clements. Since graduating in 2020, Ian has performed with the Rome Symphony Orchestra, Carroll Symphony
Orchestra, Griffin Choral Arts, and the Gainesville Theater Alliance.
He currently plays with the Georgia Philharmonic and coaches the viola sections at Northview High School, led by orchestra director Jeremy Woolstenhulme. Ian loves teaching and helping students reach their full potential as young violists.
