Violin and Viola
Jhonni Campos was raised in Cuiabá, Brazil, became involved in the social project Arte Cidadã
at the age of 14. Two years later, while still a student, he joined the UFMT extension project with
Corda Toda. In the class of Professor Dr. Oliver Yatsugafu, he received a Bachelor of Music in
violin from the Federal University of Mato Grosso in 2022. Jhonni has been refining his
instructional skills since 2016. In 2018, three of Jhonni's pupils won the Brazilian Casa da Música
de Porto Alegre competition. In 2021, one of his students took the place of the Maryland Classic
Youth Orchestras.
He was chosen to take part in the llumina festival in 2023, which is regarded as one of the most
significant and well-liked events in Brazil and Latin America, performing at Sala São Paulo, the
main concert hall in Brazil. He competed in a number of Brazilian competitions, placing as a
finalist in the Paulo Bosisio Competition in 2022 and the IX Gramado in Concert Competition in
2023. In 2022, he took first place in the Basileu França Young Soloist Competition.
Jhonni was asked to take part in an interview for the Violino didático Podcast in 2024, the largest
violin channel in Brazil. During the conversation, he discussed his profession, mental health,
preparing for contests, practicing for important occasions, and teaching yourself. Under the
tutelage of Professor Levon Ambartsumian, he is presently pursuing a master's degree in music at the University of Georgia.
