Kathryn G. Otwell

Violin and Viola

Kathryn G. Otwell began violin at the age of three under the tutelage of her mother, Valerie B. Gardner (graduate of Curtis Institute of Music). Kathryn continued her study in violin receiving both her undergraduate and masters in violin performance. Since the age of sixteen, she has soloed with various symphonies and won multiple scholarships. She has performed internationally with various ensembles and has instructed nationally in numerous violin workshops. Through personal violin lessons, Kathryn has had the opportunity to study with many acclaimed violinists. She has had a private studio for almost 30 years and continues to instruct in both violin and piano. She works also at Westminster schools as a part time music teacher. Kathryn performs with Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Symphony, and Asheville Symphony. When not musically engaged, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and martial arts.
