Matt Soares

Trumpet

Matt Soares is currently ABD and finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance at Texas Tech University, where he also earned a certificate in recording technologies. He holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Berry College.

While at Texas Tech, Matt served as a graduate teaching assistant, leading trumpet ensembles, teaching trumpet lessons, and instructing method classes for undergraduate music education students. 

As a performer, Matt has had the opportunity to play with professional ensembles, including the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony, Starkville Symphony, and the Mississippi State Faculty Brass Quintet. Currently, he plays for both the Georgia Brass Band and the Dekalb Symphony.

Matt’s teaching career has spanned various locations, including the Atlanta and Chattanooga areas, where he freelanced and taught private lessons. He takes pride in nurturing a successful lesson studio, where his students have excelled in honor bands, All-State Bands, and even earned positions in the U.S. military bands. He continues to maintain both an in-person and online studio, helping musicians of all levels achieve their musical aspirations.
